the golden globes.

it was a big night in hollywood this past sunday.... awards season has officially begun - and the globes kicked it off!
from the witty saracasm, [introducing bruce willis, "and here comes ashton kutcher's dad"], mean-spirited jokes [introducing robert downey jr, "you may know him from such places as the betty ford centre and the california state prison"] and overall hilarious hosting job from ricky gervais; the sensitive moments [chris colfer's best supporting actor win for glee; natalie portman's acceptance speech for best actress in black swan]; even a we're-spying-on-you moment where angelina fixed brad's bowtie; and finally, there was.... the fashion.
my top ten
sandra bullock in jenny packham

mila kunis in vera wang

anne hathaway in armani prive

olivia wilde in marchesa

lea michele in oscar de la renta

catherine zeta jones in monique lhullier

leighton meester in burberry

emma stone in calvin klein

jennifer lawrence in louis vuitton

scarlett johannsson in elie saab

what was big?

emerald green. vintage inspired. sequins. femininity. blush tones. embellishment.
beading. flowing chiffon. sleek fits. one shoulder straps.
princess cuts. full bangs. ruffles. sparkle.
...and for every gorgeous gown on the red carpet, there are always a few missteps.
halle berry, while i envy your amazing genetics and ability to remain ageless, it looks as though you went out in a comfortable support bra. i am completely okay with the short skirt and sheer, long overlay, however the top just doesn't mesh.january jones is most definitely a style icon: she's always on trend and is willing to take risks. this time however, i think her dress is tasteless and there is far too much skin for a red carpet event. the excessive cleavage, cutouts and fringe skirt spell trashy, not classy.and last but not least, one of the actresses i was most excited to see on the red carpet, michelle williams. how could you let me down so? the girl is always effortlessly adorable, chic and edgy. this dress is all wrong: the color, the print, the floral applique straps, the empire waist, the side flutter, the cut.... i could go on. sadly, the most disappointing of the night.but, what would an awards show be without a few show-stopping couples?
hollywood royalty at its best - brad pitt and angelina joliethe healthy and handsome michael douglas and his stunning welsh wife, catherina zeta jones.and lastly, no awards show is complete without an array of dapper leading men sporting sexy suits.
robert downey jr. - the hilarious, charismatic and sexy presenterchris colfer - the endearing and adorable award-winnerjake gyllenhaal - the handsome and charming nominee

badgley mischka.

rumer willis is the newest face for badgley mischka.
i like the second photo [shot in black&white] best.... the dress is stunning and she looks beautiful.
i'm just not entirely certain that rumer and the brand make the most sense together. i tend to think of her style as lowkey and hip. she doesn't necessarily strike me as a glammed up fashion icon. needless to say, her hair looks great long and wavy, and the shots on the beach are gorge.
what do you think? is rumer a good fit for badgley mischka?

free people: january.

free people. january. paris. cobblestone. maxi.spring. crochet. shorts. over-the-knee socks. booties. skyline. messy hair. heels. louvre. umbrellas.platforms. vintage. fedora. florals. eiffel tower. doggie. bohemian. scarves. bicycles. spring. knits. sheer. chic. love.

girl. by band of outsiders.

band of outsiders have designed their first line for ladies.
i'm kinda loving it.
my favorite look is number one- crop top, maxi skirt and wrap-up platforms.

feather hair extentions.

feathers!!!
i am incredibly excited about this 2011 hair trend!
i just got a couple turquoise clip-in hair extentions, but this feather option is even cooler. a more hipster, funky option.

apparently there are salons in new york city that will show you the extensive selection of feather extentions, you pick the colors and length you want, and they bond them in your hair. they can last for roughly 4-6 weeks.
i'm thinking i may see if i can get it done when i visit new york at the end of the month!!
....so, tell me? should i try it? would you be willing to try this trend?

scarves. huge scarves.

if there is one accessory that this girl cannot live without, yup, you guessed it....
it's a big, cozy scarf.
you could even call it my security blanket.
whether i'm simply running out for a latte and a magazine in lululemon leggings, uggs and a parka; headed to class in combat boots, a maxi skirt and leather jacket; or out on the town in booties, leather leggings and a faux-fur cardigan.... yes, I am wearing a scarf.
it could be my tried-and-true military-green, thermal version from aritzia; a black infinity style from american apparel that goes with absolutely anything; a classic black and white houndstooth wrap from club monaco; or the newest [and current favorite] addition to the collection-
a massive cream, red and teal wool option from tna.

two-thousand and eleven colors.

if you want to get a head start on planning your spring wardrobe, the first thing you can consider is color. there are going to be lots of options this s/s 2011, but one thing is for sure.... unlike the simple, monochromatic color palettes of the past, this spring we'll be seeing some color!
pink
[feminine. soft. honeysuckle.]
pale yellow
[sunny. warm. buttery.]earth tones
[natural. sand. rust.]blue
[relaxing. cool. soothing.]orange
[vibrant. juicy. punchy.]white
[classic. effortless. clean.]
is a spring/summer staple year after year.

what colors will you be wearing? i'm guaranteed to have tons of white and earth-tones in my closet [that's a given all year-round], but if i am going to add a burst of color.... i think i'll be testing the pale yellow and blue trends. i've never been much of an orange or pink girl, so i think i'll stick to what i know works best with my hair color and skin tone :)
