The MET Gala 2011.

i know, i know.... i haven't blogged on here in ages. i've been uber busy with finishing the last semester of my Fashion Diploma (fini! yay!) and have been focused on my Tumblr- bohobisous, as it has been a bit easier to use a scrapbook style blog. however, for blog posts requiring lots of luscious gowns; gorgeous celebrities (and in some cases, their sexy arm candy); and tons of shoes, accessories and beauty, it was necessary to take a trip back to sammy and the city....

so, last night was the annual MET Gala in New York City and the celebs came out in full form.... here are some of the trends and best dressed, in my opinion.

RED:
mary-kate olsen in vintage Givenchy: never disappoints in her signature boho hippie style.

dianna agron in red silk Michael Kors: all of her accessories were MK and he came as her date!

gisele bundchen in gorgeous Alexander McQueen: along side her, beautiful husband, Tom Brady  in Tom Ford.

lea michele in strapless Escada, looks effortlessly beautiful with a sparkling clutch and shiny, simple hair.

white | silver | shimmering:
SJP in Alexander McQueen: definitely one of the best dressed of the evening. the high neck, long sleeves and floor-length hem still managed to equal sexy and she truly sparkled.

blake lively in Chanel Haute Couture: her skin toned/grey/silver mixed embroidered gown was so utterly unique and interesting; her pale red locks were the perfect contrast and as the new face of Chanel, she came on the arm of Karl Lagerfeld.

ciara in Prabal Gurung, looks angelic and rugged. the frothy gown in a mix of light hues is the perfect complement to her long, dark waves, and wrists stacked with dark, sparkly bangles.

miranda kerr in Marchesa, exuded a ballerina/figure-skater vibe in her white, tulle mini. only a mere three months ago, this victoria's secret model had her first baby and you'd never know! not only does she look stunning, but she also has one of the most handsome men out there on her arm- orlando bloom.

nicole richie in Jason Wu: completely went for Old Hollywood glamour at the MET wearing a white column vintage gown with slashed sleeves; long waves and specially made House of Harlow 1960 jewelery.

ashley greene in Donna Karan, sparkled on the red carpet in her stunning, strapless frock. a mermaid style gown was perfectly complemented by her gorgeous earrings and cuff.

the bohemian beauties:
jessica alba in custom-made Ralph Lauren: this boho mama equals effortless beauty in her platinum lame gown. i'm loving her jeweled hairpiece and it's obvious her other best accessory is that pregnancy glow.

eva mendes in Stella McCartney: this rich navy blue hue and one-sleeve style worked beautifully. the pleating and maxi length are perfect for spring, while the brown belt cinches in eva's tiny waist and adds an extra boho accent.

julianne hough stands out in Burberry: her blue and green watercolor gown is refreshing. the ruffled, deep v neckline, the abstract print and long pleated hem all add up to make this  unique dress that has me excited for warmer temperatures.

kate hudson in Stella McCartney, is glowing in champagne silk. this wild child chose perfectly with this long, flowing gown that complements her adorable baby bump.
bright and bold:
brooklyn decker went all in out in Michael Kors: sporting a sexy neon pink, long-sleeved gown off-set by a flirty thigh-high slit and MK platforms. brooklyn pulled out all the stops with this wardrobe choice and undoubtedly stood out in her simple, yet stand-out dress and refreshing new wavy bob.
frieda pinto in Chanel Haute Couture, was definitely one of the most daring at the MET. colliding menswear with this feminine shape was a gutsy decision.
zoe saldana in Calvin Klein, is a sunny surprise on the red carpet. her bright yellow column gown is a welcome beam of light among a sea of silver.

the showstoppers:
taylor swift in J Mendel, is a romantic vision. i cannot get over the lace intricacies of this nude and black gown. swifty is looking very mature in her MET choice and i believe it to be a nice switch from her regular sparkly cocktail dresses.
demi moore in feathered Prabal Gurung: from the black strapless frock festooned in copious amounts of feathers, the Philip Treacy spectator (how posh!) and the Cartier diamonds, Demi came to the MET to make a major appearance.
diane kruger in Jason Wu: the girl who never, ever gets it wrong made a showstopping appearance on the red carpet. the very seductive slit -up to there!- and the floral embroidered top (which took 500 hours to complete) paid off, and she had two men on her arm throughout the evening: designer Wu and her beautiful boyfriend, Joshua Jackson.
hailee steinfeld in Stella McCartney, shows she is truly wise beyond her fashion years. i cannot say enough good things about this outfit:  the lace embroidery; the high/low hem; the high neckline; the olive hue; the nicholas kirkwood heels... the list goes on.
leighton meester in Louis Vuitton, is never afraid of a little edge. this black mini dress has sexy leather accents and cut-outs, and is perfectly paired with matching strappy black LV heels.

....so, my top picks of the bunch? it's hard to pick only a few, but if i must choose:

1. diane kruger
2. hailee steinfeld
3. brooklyn decker
4. taylor swift
5. blake lively

xx sammy
